The show, called “Shine On,” is scheduled for one performance, on April 12. The subtitle is “Celebrating 125 Years of Women Making Their Mark.”

“Shine On” will be sponsored by a longtime Good Housekeeping advertiser, the Maybelline New York brand of cosmetics sold by L’Oréal. Maybelline will also sponsor a section in the May issue devoted to the 125 women “who changed our lives,” said Rosemary Ellis, editor in chief of Good Housekeeping, which is part of the Hearst Magazines division of the Hearst Corporation.

The show is indicative of efforts by media companies to extend their properties outside the traditional realms of the printed page or TV set. In some instances, like “Shine On,” there are efforts to bring a media brand to life in tangible ways, known as experiential marketing.

….“Shine On” is to be composed of performances, including musical numbers, and video tributes. The women to be saluted will include Susan B. Anthony, Madonna, Dorothy Parker, Sally Ride, Martha Stewart and Diane von Furstenberg.

Among those who have agreed to take part in the show are the Broadway performers Laura Benanti and Kelli O’Hara, the comedian Fran Drescher and the actresses Kristen Bell and Meryl Streep. Lynne Taylor-Corbett, a director and choreographer, has been hired to direct the show.
